What is this guitar-thing that Sting played at the James Taylor tribute concert?
The fretboard is really strange and I don't know what going on with the head and all, it's a really weird instrument. It defintely has more than 6 strings, probably 10-12 I'd say.

Sting's web site says he plays the mandoline and also the lute. The picture you posted looks like a combination of both. I think Sting maybe found or developed a hybrid 12 string.
