2000 trans am front new brakes and rotors, won't roll in neutral. Must be dragging! What's the problem?
I have 72k on the car, don't race, daily commute. Had rotors and pads replaced approx. 2 years or less ago. Started getting a squeal this week similar to a wear indicator. Bought new pads and rotors and droped the car off to my local mech. He came by with the car this morn. after installing the new parts and said we have a problem, it won't roll freely in neutral. I don't recall that ever being a problem the last time around though I do recall a "blueing" or "scortched" apperance on those rotors almost immediatly. I don't have that with the new ones, but they literaly have only 2 miles on them. He showed me the parts he replaced and there were small cracks on the rotors as well as the pads and the pads were not completly worn. He feels that perhaps its the ABS module or something in that area. He has a friend @ the pontiac shop, checking with him tom. Will not drive until determined, don't want to ruin these rotors or pads. Is there some other area that we need to be looking at? HELP!
You need to replace the calipers, as they are seized up on you. Hence the not being able to move in neutral. Pretty much means that they are not releasing, or when he put the calipers back on, he twisted the brake hose, pinching it.
