What is the difference between Solid-state drive and hard drive on Macbook?
and solid state has only little storage capacity, so that means less movie and music? whats so good about it, why so expensive.
A Solid State Drive (SSD) has several advantages and disadvantages, outlined as followed:
-Advantages:
*Double the speed on file transfers (increases computer start time and program start time significantly)
*Very quiet (SSDs are fully electronic, unlike hard drives which rely on mechanical procedures)
*Very small (irrelevant unless you build your own computers)
-Disadvantages
*Very expensive
*Little storage space
SSDs are not used for massive amounts of storage, really, they are used for faster start up times. If you are a normal consumer then stick to the traditional hard drive until this technology is advanced further and the prices have dropped.
