would my guitar still sound good with no pickup covers?
i have a fender squire and i don't like the pickups it currently has and im to broke to get new ones so i wondered if i took the plastic pickup covers off would it still sound good or crappy? i need this answered asap
Hi! No, of course there will not be a change without the covers; however, why don't you try varying the distance from the pickup poles to the strings? Granted you are not going to all of a sudden sound like Eric Clapton, but maybe you will be able to dial in a tone that sounds better to you. Within practical limits, moving the pickups further away from the strings will yield a tone with reduced bass and increased treble, whereas placing them closer to the strings will yield more volume and a more robust and overdriven sound.
