Any1 played MXR Distortion+ and DOD YJM308? Which is better between the guitar & amp for great 80's metal tone?

The DOD pedal is a boost pedal. If you're going into a tube amp and want to kick up the preamp distortion, it's good for that. If you have a solid state amp, don't bother with it.

The MXR is a true distortion pedal in that is has a clipping circuit in it. Personally, I've never been that crazy about 'em (I've got an original from the 70's), but that pedal was a key component in Randy Rhodes' sound.

The way a pedal (any of 'em) reacts has a lot to do with how hard your guitar drives it, and what kind of amp you're going in to.

Good luck.

Which is a better Compressor?

To all the electric guitar gurus....I'm looking to buy a compressor for under $100. I'm looking at the MXR Dynacomp, The DOD Milkbox, and possibly the Danelectro Surf n' Turf. Which of those is best quality, and are there anymore good, inexpensive compression pedals?

Danelectro makes some decent stuff, although the plastic bodies they put the electronics in is much to be desired. You have to be carefull with them. DOD is much better about that, much more durable. Haven't had any experience with MXR. So at this point I am going to say DOD.
