Which is better, a pair of studio speakers or a standard guitar cabinet speaker?
I'm thinking of buying a pod xt or x3 and running that to a pair of nice studio speakers instead of buying a new amp, probably spending more money and not getting the tons of options that the pod offers. So I was just wondering, if I were to do this, would the studio speakers sound better or worse when outputting the riffs I play, than any regular guitar cab speaker?
Hello! First, I am presuming that when you mention studio speakers, you are talking about reference monitors. If so, they are designed to provide a very flat frequency response, and will not give you a good guitar sound. Further, the Pod XT or X3 cannot be directly coupled to speakers; you need an amplifier to process the signal, and then send it to the speakers. My recommendation would be to purchase a decent combo amplifier, maybe even a Line 6 model with the effects already built into the unit. Best regards, Dana
