Fender Champ
Fender Champ
Whats a good blues combo amp for less than 300 dollars?
I have a budget of a max of around 3-350 dollars. I play blues, blues rock, and rock on my mexiStrat. I want an amp that can get a sweet SRV or John Mayer bluesy tone. I've been looking at the Fender Vibro Champ because it has a ton of range from rock to blues and its a good 200 dollars. Any suggestions? As many good answers as possible please.
I just bought a Vox AC4-TV to use as a practice amp in my living room.
What a GREAT little amp!
4 watts, all tube (solid state rectifier)
3 stetting attenuator (4 watts, 1 watt, 1/4 watt)
10 inch celestion speaker
Classic cream colored Vox cabinet.
$250
The real gem is the 3 attenuator settings. Great break up, but at lower volumes with the 1 watt & 1/4 watt settings. Perfect for practicing in a bedroom or living room.
On the 4 watt setting, it is surprisingly loud for it's size and wattage. It might be able to keep up with a moderately loud drum kit during practice. But you'd definitely need to mic it for a gig. The tone is fantastic once you start to push the tubes into saturation.
My other amp is a Fender Blues Jr. which is a great little amp of it's own. But they run almost $500 now. And truth be told, the Vox has better tone, but not nearly the volume.
