well, first of all, marshall has a great reputation and probably the most popular brand of amps out there. lots of different rock musicians use them. you won't be disappointed with a marshall, so if you want to play your cards safe and get an amp you know you will like, get a marshall.
but if your willing to get an amp you will LOVE, not only like, try other brands too.
i have a line 6 spider 3 amp 30 watt and i love it. its so versatile, you can play any kinda music with it. it has 4 different tones (clean, crunch, metal, and insane). so its perfect for practically any genre. it also has a whole lotta effects like delay, phaser, tremelo, etc. i would reconmend this to anyone. although its not for everyone.
vox makes amps that will satisfy the most people.
randall makes amps mostly for metal
fender, i don't know much about.
honestly, the only way to find out if an amp is good for you is to try it.
amp stacks are the kind of amps you see people in bands using onstage. they have a "head" which is where you plug in your guitar, select all the knobs, volume and stuff. and then you have to get a seperate cabinet which is the speaker basically.
i dunno how to really explain tube, but basically its a different kind of amp that makes it sound cooler
