What kind of amplifier settings are best for a Fender Stratocaster?
What I mean is, can you tell me what gain volume, reverb, delay, and all those other settings mean on the amplifier?
And if it makes a difference, I like to play songs by Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Aerosmith, Nirvana, etc.
I'm not good with setting my guitar to certain settings only because I don't know what these things mean.
The amp settings are based on the type of sound you are trying to emulate. There are usually 2 gain stages on a guitar amp. The pre gain or first gain stage is what controls the amount of overdrive/distortion that the amp will produce. The post gain or master volume controls the overall volume level of the amp. Bass, Middle, and Treble are fairly self explanatory. Reverb is a type of effect that gives the guitar the sound of playing in a large hall. Delay takes that effect a bit further by actually producing echos of the guitar signal.
To get an effective hard rock sound turn the pre gain all the way up. Turn the master volume down to about 2 (or less if you don't want it loud) Start with the bass on 6, the mid on 2, and the treble on 5. Set the reverb to about 4 and experiment with a little bit of delay. You can usually adjust the amount of echos and the time of the echos. Set it to just 1 or 2 quick echos. The amplifier makers website can give you the specific manual for your amp. READ IT. this will help you get the most out of the amp.
As for the guitar keep all of the knobs tuned all the way up to get the maximum amount of signal from the guitar. The switch controls which pickup is being used. The bridge pickup is the brightest sounding. Experiment with different pickup selection as you are playing to get a feel for the sounds produced by your guitar
