Is it dangerous to use a higher power AC adapter on a lower power appliance?
Hi, I just bought a Boss ME-20 guitar multi-effects pedal. It didn't come with a power supply but the specs say that it needs a 9V power adapter. I only have a 12V power adapter. So if I use the two together, is my new guitar effects pedal in any danger? (Or is there any other dangers?)
Yes. Only use the recommended voltage or the appliance will overheat and distort. it will cause internal damage. They have a recommendation for a reason so abide by it. If you bought this new, using the wrong volts will void your warranty.
